Passive Fibre Solutions

This solution has been developed and implemented within multi tenant office spaces as well as managed office spaces, to provide benefits for both landlords and tenants.

Why was it developed?

Multi-tenant buildings can present a challenge for both landlords and occupiers when a telecoms service is ordered for delivery up to one of the tenant floors. The telco fibre typically enters the basement of the building and frequently has to navigate the plant rooms and landlord areas before attempting to climb the riser to the tenant floor. Access to each of the riser closets during installation can prove disruptive to multiple tenants, and can cause delay as well as require wayleaves.

How does it work?

A ‘passive’ or ‘blown’ fibre solution can avoid this scenario with a one-time-only installation of a multi-duct blown fibre tube. This solution extends from a basement patch panel within a ‘meet-me’ cabinet and creates a fibre route directly to each tenant floor. Upon ordering a new fibre telecoms service, the tenant can request a new fibre connection from the ‘meet-me’ cabinet, right up to their desired IT cabinet within their demise. This direct route avoids wayleave (cost and time) and the disruption associated with a traditional in-building, piecemeal approach.
