Backbone Connect has delivered integrated digital infrastructure for Aberdeen Standard Investments’ Hobart House – a five-floor contemporary office at the heart of Edinburgh’s central business district.

It is the first project that Backbone Connect has delivered in Scotland, marking the business’ growing reach across the UK’s commercial property market.

Working closely with Knight Frank, the appointed leasing agent for Hobart House, Backbone Connect installed resilient fibre connections as part of an extensive refurbishment project. The upgrade by Aberdeen Standard Investments reflects a growing demand from occupiers in Edinburgh for centrally located, modern space with high-quality connectivity.   Two existing tenants at Hobart House have already signed with Backbone Connect to use the new resilient connections.

Simon Capaldi, an Associate within Knight Frank’s Edinburgh agency team, said:

“There is new interest in the Edinburgh office market with a greater emphasis on better quality space, something that’s been in short supply in the city. The new digital infrastructure installed by Backbone Connect at Hobart House as part of the wider upgrade helps to give it the edge and we’re already seeing positive leasing enquiries.”
