Being 'different and better' is an ongoing challenge, as is delivering the highest quality IT services possible, in an ever-changing marketplace. That's why we’re so proud of our decade-long journey to become the trusted IT experts we are today. We've stayed true to the vision and ideals that started the business, but the milestones we've reached along the way have supercharged our growth and made us better every year.

Where we
started

2008

David McLeod and Mike Cullen founded Backbone Connect with a clear vision of being different and better by providing innovative IT solutions with exceptional customer service.

In March 2008, David and Mike set up the business in Kingston, Surrey, with a focus on offering ISP (Internet Service Provider) services to businesses around the UK.

2010-2011

We were proud to become a European Level 3 Communications partner in 2010, as well as the UK Data Centre partner for US-based Hexagrid in September 2011.

2013

Our company was in the top 10 of the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 award programme.

2014-2017

After six years of continuous growth at Backbone Connect, we reached the limits of our office space and moved to King Street, London, in 2014.

Backbone Connect achieved ISO 27001 certification, an information security management system aimed to ensure business compliancy against any applicable legislation. We achieved a further 3 accreditations in 2017; ISO 9001, 14001 and 20000.

With the continued growth of the business, we doubled in size — and so began a process of relocation in order to accommodate such rapid growth.

2018 to Present

A decade on and we’re still growing. Yet we remain a company that keeps service quality as its focus, and exceptional customer satisfaction at its heart.
