Redevco invests in digital connectivity as part of £8 million retail and office refurbishment

The refurbishment will convert the upper floor of the centre into 15,763 sq ft of new category A office space. Backbone Connect will supply high-capacity fibre connections and hardware as part of this conversion, reflecting the importance of digital connectivity for securing workplace tenants. Backbone Connect will also offer ongoing digital support for tenants once they have moved in. In line with Redevco’s aim to improve the user experience across the centre, Backbone Connect will install public Wi-Fi in the ground floor atrium of White Lion Walk to keep people connected.

The pandemic especially has changed our relationship with the online world. That’s why we’re working closely with Redevco to make sure the newly refurbished centre meets shoppers and employees’ expectations of what makes a great connected place in 2022.”

Andrew Foulds, development manager at Redevco, added: “Superfast broadband through fibre connectivity is essential within a modern office environment, and Backbone Connect has been selected to provide a cradle to grave service for us at White Lion Walk. Wi-Fi connectivity is a minimum requirement in commercial mixed use developments and being able to combine an instruction for both with Backbone Connect means we can ensure this provision is managed by a specialist and focus our design and contractor on the main development.”
